A Summary of Scheduled 2012 Events

As with all years, people are planning ahead for 2012 events. Here is a summary of what we can expect to happen in 2012 if we don't experience the disaster from a global cataclysm .



January 2012

On January 1, 2012 in America we will celebrate the incoming of the New Year.

On January 7, 2012, the Eastern Orthodox Christians will celebrate Christmas Day.

The Winter Youth Olympics is scheduled to be held in Innsbruck, Austria from January 13th to January 22nd of 2012.

NASA has predicted that the near earth asteroid, named 433 Eros, will pass the earth around January 31st of 2012, hopefully keeping its distance.

February 2012

Imbolc celebrations will occur on February 1st or 2nd by the cultures that celebrate the earth's seasons.

Islam will celebrate Mawlid (the birth of Prophet Muhammad) on February 5th.

Don't forget Valentine's Day on February 14th, the day reserved for expressing love to your sweetheart.

Western Christians will acknowledge Ash Wednesday on February 22nd which is the start of Lent.

March 2012

Jews will celebrate Purim on March 8th which is a festival commemorating deliverance of the people from the Persian Empire.

Hindus will celebrate Holi on March 8th – the Festival of Colours.

March 20th is the day of the Spring Equinox.

April 2012

On April 1st of 2012, Americans will play April Fools jokes on everyone. I'm sure you can expect some doomsday stories on that day.

The Hindus will celebrate Ramanavami on April 1st followed by Hanuman Jayanti on April 6th.

On April 7th, the Jews will enjoy the Passover celebrations.

Western Christians will celebrate Easter – the resurrection of Christ – on April 8th which will be celebrated by Eastern Christians on April 15th.

The Combined Forces Command of the United States and South Korea over the Republic of Korea will dissolve on April 17th.

May 2012

On May 5th, parts of Mexico will celebrate Cinco de Mayo commemorating the Mexican army conquering French army.

Jews will celebrate Shavuot on May 27th.

The annular solar eclipse will occur on May 20th.

June 2012

The solar transit of Venus will occur on June 6th as predicted by the Mayans.

Summer solstice will occur in the northern hemisphere on June 20th.

July 2012

On July 4th Americans will be celebrating Independence Day.

On the Islamic calendar, Ramadam begins on July 20th.

Plovdiv, Bulgaria will host the 2012 World Rowing Championships from July 18th to July 21st.

On July 27th, the 2012 Summer Olympics will open in London, England.

August 2012

On August 2nd, Hindus will celebrate Raksha Bandhan which is a celebration of relationships between brothers and sisters.

On August 20th Hindus will observe Krishna Janmashtami.

The 2012 Summer Paralympics will start on August 29th in London.

September 2012

The Jewish New Year will be on September 17th.

The Fall Equinox will be on September 21st.

October 2012

I haven't identified any special events for October of 2012 yet, but some will be celebrating Halloween on October 31th.

November 2012

On November 6th, there will be a much awaited Presidential election in the United States – Americans, please register and vote on this day. It is one of the most important 2012 events to our country.

The total solar eclipse will be visible to some on November 13th.

November 15th will be the Islamic New Year.

On November 22nd, Americans will celebrate Thanksgiving Day.

December 2012

On December 9th, Jews will be celebrating Hanukkah.

December 21st, the most anticipated date, will present winter solstice 2012 in the northern hemisphere and summer solstice in the southern hemisphere.

According to the 2012 Mayan calendar the great cycle or the Fifth Age will end on December 21 2012 .

December 25th, Western Christians will celebrate the birth of Christ, known as Christmas.
