Armageddon Prophecy Deciphered
The Armageddon prophecy is actually part of Apostle John's apocalyptic testimony in the Book of Revelation in the Bible. It actually refers to a place, rather than a battle and it is mentioned only once in the Bible in Revelation 16:16 where it says,
"Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon." ~ NIV
This is mentioned during the time that God's wrath is being described that occurs shortly before Christ establishes his one-thousand reign on earth after bounding Satan and casting him into the Abyss.
The wrath which is described after the mention of Armageddon includes thunder and lightening, rumblings and a severe earthquake unlike any earthquake that has ever occurred on earth, followed by a plaque of hail.
Before the wrath is described, a loud voice coming from the temple is heard saying, "It is done!" ~ Revelation 16:17 NIV.
Why is Armageddon Prophecy Referred to as the Final Battle?
The term Armageddon is a subject of controversy even among Christians. Many Christians believe that it refers to the battle between Christ and the antichrist. Others believe that it refers to a location, perhaps Mount Sinai. There are also interpretations that think it refers to a campaign in the Middle East, rather than a specific battle while some believe that the final battle has already happened.

At any rate, Armageddon has something to do with the end of the world as we know it and leads to judgment; however, if you believe that the Bible is true and inspired by God, you will realize that the world will continue for at least 1,000 years which discounts the 2012 end of the world
claims.
