Because of
2012 end of the world
tales, the Aztec calendar has come into interest. It is considered a Mesoamerica calendar; however, it doesn't hold as much interest as the
2012 Mayan calendar
which is believed by many to predict the end of the world to be coming in the year of 2012.
The calendars formulated by the Aztecs include a calendar that depicts a year count of 365 days based on the sun which the Aztecs used as their agricultural calendar. Their sacred calendar consisted of a day count calendar that depicts their 260 day ritual cycle.
When combining these two cycles together the calendar round was developed which presents a 52 year century.
This video somewhat explains the calendar of the Aztecs and what they desire to pass on to future generations.

Mayan language
. They mostly used symbols in their documentations.
