The Black Hole 2012 theories are based primarily on 2012 Mayan prophecy
and
planet alignment
with the mysterious dark rift, the center of the Milky Way galaxy and the center of the universe.
The Mayans are much respected for their ability to document futuristic cosmic events. The
long count
version of the
2012 Mayan calendar
ends on
December 21 2012
which many have decided is the date for the end of the world.
This date represents
winter solstice 2012
which is simply when the earth's axis is farthest away from the sun and defines the middle of winter. The Mayans believed that winter solstice was a dangerous time where the Gods could will disaster if they chose to.
What is interesting about this time is that the sun seems to align with the center of the galaxy, i.e. the dark rift which is commonly referred to as the Black Hole.
Black holes have been described by scientists as a part of space in which the gravitational force is so strong that escaping it would be impossible.
This leaves people thinking that perhaps in
December 2012
the earth will be sucked into the Black Hole due to
planet alignment
and the beliefs of the Mayans. There are also assumptions that the sun will go into the Black Hole leaving earth without sunlight.
John Major Jenkins
studies and writes about the Mayan civilization and attempts to explain what he calls the
galactic alignment
. His theories are often used in regard to gravitational effects between the dark rift and the sun which are expected by many to create chaos on earth including mass extinction.
