Planet X 2012 Theories
Planet X 2012 theories have people stirred up about a
2012 end of the world
occurrence because there are claims that the plant will collide with the earth causing destruction.
The Original Theory
The original planet x theory can be credited to Percival Lowell who proposed a hypothesis that an unidentified planet (called Planet X) could be the explanation of the discrepancies in the orbits of Uranus and Neptune. Since then astronomers commonly use the term to describe unidentified planets that might exist.
When Pluto was discovered, it seemed to prove Lowell's hypothesis, but later it was found not to be a planet and Pluto was considered a dwarf planet. Today, the vast majority of the community of astronomers agrees that Planet X does not exist.
The Collision Theory
The other planet x theories deal with Planet X – also called
Nibiru
according to the supposed discovery by the Sumerians as defined in the works by
Zechariah Sitchin
. This is the theory is closely related to the theory that the earth will collide with this mythical planet in 2012.
The collision theory gained popularity in the 1990s when a woman claimed that she was contacted by extraterrestrials and was destined to warn people about an object that would pass through the solar system in 2003 causing the earth to experience a
pole shift
and resulting in destruction of mankind. This theory keeps getting revised when the specified date passes and it has evolved into the new planet x theory.
What Experts Say
NASA scientists claim that all theories about Planet X threatening the earth are just a hoax although some of them claim it is a great sci-fi movie topic.
They say that topics about the earth colliding with a planet are nonfactual although they do admit that the earth is subject to comet and asteroid impacts. NASA uses the Spaceguard Survey to identify such threats before they happen and results from this survey are published daily. No impaction threats have been identified for the year 2012.
