    • The 2012 Mayan Calendar ends on December 21 2012 which is the end of the fifth age according to Mayan practices. They are alleged to believe that the end of each age represented either human extinction, spiritual enlightening or transformation.

    • Some are looking to the Bible to identify signs of end times including topics such as a 2012 Apocalypse or fulfillment of Armageddon prophecy .

    • Many are looking to Nostradamus 2012 predictions which deal with all sorts of things like cosmic events, natural disasters, war, drought, famine, plague, massive extinctions, and end of the world events.

    • Some are expecting earth to collide with Planet X in 2012 .

    • There are theories about the chaos that will happen in 2012 due to a planet alignment .

    • Some fear an 2012 asteroid impaction due to conjectures that such an event was responsible for the extinction of dinosaurs.

    • Some suggest that global cataclysm will come due to a pole shift or geomagnetic reversal .

    • Black Hole 2012 theories are rampant due to predictions of a galactic alignment .

    • Some expect a threatening supervolcano eruption with the possibility of extinction of the human race due to past history.

    • People are now paying attention to the melting of the ice caps and the data is obtained from studying ice cores because of the possibility of such changes contributing to rising sea levels and perhaps causing established communities to disappear into the ocean.

    • Some fear the winter soltice 2012 and are convinced that it will present great catastrophes.
